Pet Bed Reviews
Regardless of what kind of animal you have, your pet will need
a bed. Remember, though, this item is just as much for you as for the pet -
you want your house to look good, and you are buying a piece of furniture for
your pet - people will see it as well, so you may not want something junky
unless your pet sleeps outside or in a part of the house that no one goes to
often. There are some general things you'll need to think about for all pets,
however, because they can often be just as finicky as people are.
If you're not careful, you may have trouble getting your
animals to sleep in pet beds - especially with cats, who will turn their nose
up at anything they don't like. You'll want to buy a bed with this in mind -
you need something that your particular pet is going to want to sleep in. If
you've got a kitten, a puppy, or a really young animal, it's not that hard -
they haven't adjusted to sleeping in any particular place yet and it won't be
difficult in most cases to get them to sleep there. If you've got an older
animal, it may be more difficult, but there are a couple of things you can do.
First, if your pet already sleeps in a certain spot or on a blanket or
something, it's not that hard to get them to adjust to new pet beds. Put the
new one down in the old spot, or put the blanket into the new pet bed. It will
make it seem more familiar, and they'll usually transfer their old routine
into the new location. Dogs are more trainable, so it will be easy to get them
to sleep there - if you've taught them the sit command, just put them on the
new bed and tell them to sit. It will be easier if you can put it in a
location that's next to you - for instance, if you're watching T.V., then have
your dog sit in the bed either on the couch next to you or on the floor where
you can still pet it. Then just hang out with your dog, petting him or her and
keeping them in the bed so that they get comfortable there. If it's a cat, you
may have to do something similar - it's harder, but when your cat wants
attention, take them over to the bed and pet them there.
