Foam Dog Beds

When it comes to the health of a dog’s bones and joints, one of the best types of beds for dogs is the memory foam bed. Unlike a variety of other types of dog beds, memory foam beds are designed exclusively to conform to your dog’s body, which reduces damage on your dog’s joints and bones, allows its hip and spin to rest in their proper place, and allows their muscles to rest after a long walk in ways that other beds – even some of the most expensive plush beds – cannot always do on their own.

But the value of a memory foam dog bed lies in how effective the foam is and how well it works for most pets. Any company can claim that they make a memory foam dog mattress provided that they use a foam, but only certain beds actually provide the support that your dog needs. Below are some of the better memory foam bed types available.

Memory Foam Dog Beds

·        Tempur-Pedic

Unless you do not own a television or go to the mall, you have likely heard the Tempur-Pedic name. They are leaders in memory foam mattresses for humans, and one of the most advertised memory foam companies in the world. For dogs, there are Tempur-Pedic dog beds, designed to give the same type of support that human beings get from these mattresses for canines. Tempur-Pedic dog beds are quite good, and often designed specifically for orthopedic purposes.

·        K&H Memory Sleeper

The K&H Memory Sleeper is like the Tempur Pedic, but much more limited in terms of sizes and colors. There are only three sizes and only two colors for these types of mattresses, so don’t expect to go into a store and find one that matches the décor of your household. But they are effective and cheaper than most other options.

·        Max Comfort

Max Comfort also makes memory foam dog beds that are quite soft and great for most dogs. It should be noted, however, that Max Comfort also supplies some of the most expensive dog beds available, but they do also provide great support and have a large number of different styles and designs, including “sofa dog beds” which have vastly grown in popularity. They currently have one of the only memory foam sofa dog beds available.

Overall Thoughts on Memory Foam

Memory foam is not wildly more effective than other types of dog beds, but it does have its benefits and is certainly better for dogs that experience severe aches and pains (or dog breeds that are prone to them over time). As such, it is definitely worth a look, as there are a variety of physical benefits to your pet that you won’t get from other dog beds. If your breed is not prone to these problems and young, however, you may not need to splurge on one of these dog beds unless you have the finances to do so.
